The results of the public sales of transmission lines represents savings of R$ 15.5 billion

The consumer should feel relived due to the savings of R$ 15.5 billion in the light bill over the next 30 years. This is possible in virtue of the public sale result of 11 power lines, such auction held today (15) by the Federal Government. It is the second public sale of the sector held this year.

The average discount was 40.46%. 4,919 km of power transmission lines and substations were auctioned, with a capacity of 10,416 mega-volt-amperes (MVA). Projects whose projected investments add up to R$ 8.75 billion.

The main batches were bought by foreigners, they demand a greater volume of contributions from the concessionaires. The largest of them was won by the Indian company Sterlite Power Grid. Neoenegia, controlled by the Spanish company Iberdrola, took two of the 11 batches offered.

The winners were companies offering the lowest amount of Permissible Annual Revenue (RAP), that is, lower fare price for a transported energy. With investments of R$ 8.7 billion in works and equipment, Aneel estimates that these public sales will generate approximately 17.8 thousand direct jobs.

The 11 power transmission lines batches will cruise the borders of ten Brazilian States: Bahia, Ceará, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Tocantins. The transmission facilities (lines and substations) must enter into commercial operation in 36 to 60 months from the signing of the concession contracts.
